As you probably already know, the building code changed in the year 2000 throughout the state of Florida and the 1x2 Beveled Buck was no longer compliant. The Miami Dade County building code compliance office, product control division, issued what is known today as the Notice of Acceptance (NOA). The NOA was issued under the applicable rules and regulations governing the use of construction materials. Contractors had no other choice than to start using another product, that kicked off a great deal of difficulties when finishing around windows. This has created a very expensive and time-consuming nightmare for contractors and builders.

The square edge of the 1x4 or 2 x 4 prevents aligning the drywall flush with the window frame. When the drywall returns back into the window frame it covers the ¾” or 1 ½” buck and the ¼” shim. Leaving a different reveal at top and sides of the window frame. Therefore ending up with a horrible drywall finish around the window. Bucking windows has become one of the biggest headaches for the construction industry since the code changed.

Improperly installed window bucks account for most water leaks. The newly designed Supreme Window Buck has a right trapezoid cross-section so that the drywall can be cut with a beveled edge such that the window buck beveled edge and the drywall beveled edge are in contact with one another leaving the total window frame exposed. The Supreme Window Buck also has a caulk line cut on the back side compelling the workman to apply a bead of caulk in a straight Line rather than an (S) shape down the back of the buck. The caulk Line will provide a stronger water tight seal. The supreme window bucks are designed to fit the different manufacturers and series of the windows. We have different sizes for every manufacturer and series.
